Cute Ute
To honor this kangaroo driven Holden Ute postcard I have prepared an entry all about the automotive landscape of Australia.

Australia is one of a handful of countries that has the ability to design and produce original automobiles from scratch. Australian-designed cars and trucks are made by local producers including Ford Australia and Holden, a subsidiary of General Motors. However, the current market place is primarily composed of cars imported from Asia and Europe.

2014 Chevrolet SS
Australia is best known for the design and production of larger sedans and coupes. These designs are beginning to trickle across the globe. Here is a small sample of cars that are either based on designs from Australia or are largely to related to current production vehicles down under and are now or soon to be available in the United States:

  • Chevrolet SS (Pictured Above) = Holden Commodore SS
  • Chevrolet Caprice (Chevrolet’s new police only model) = Holden Caprice (Formerly sold in the U.S. as the Pontiac G8)
  • Chevrolet Camaro = Based on the Holden designed Zeta platform
