Karmen visited the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) in Melbourne last month. She reports that it was pretty awesome sauce. This postcard has inspired me to share some pretty riveting facts about the James Bond movie franchise!

  • Goldeneye is the nickname of Ian Fleming’s beachfront house in Jamaica where he wrote the Bond novels and it is also the title of the 17th film in the series.
  • Sir Roger Moore, the third actor to play James Bond, suffers from Hoplophobia, or the fear of firearms. This is because he accidentally shot in the leg by his brother has a child.
  • Another interesting Roger Moore fact, all running scenes through out his seven Bond films were performed by a stunt double. He felt that he looked awkward while running.
  • Sean Connery wore a toupee in all of his 007 films.
  • James Bond was a real person. He was a ornithologist and author of Birds of the West Indies. Fleming used his name because he felt it was brief and unromantic.
