Phar Lap
This postcard was sent from the Melbourne Museum by the always lovely Ms. Mallow. The card features a racehorse called Phar Lap, an Australian icon. Phar Lap was born in New Zealand was trained and raced in Australia where he dominated the racing scene of the 1920s and 30s winning over 20 races. Phar Lap died in 1932 and today his hide can be seen at the Melbourne Museum, his skeleton is displayed at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa and his heart is at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra.
