Monterey Bay
This postcard comes from the Monterey Bay Aquarium which is home to many aquatic species including the Wunderpus Octopus, or Wunderpus photogenicus. The octopus gets its name from the German word “wünder” which means “wonder”. The octopus can change its hue and contrast in colors but its pattern remains the same.

LikeSunday
This luxurious postcard comes from a Hyundai dealership near Milwaukee. I found it in 2013 while my dad was purchasing a sweet new ride and it’s been floating around my apartment ever since. That is until I dropped it in the mail to my dear friend Julie.

The first generation Genesis (pictured on the postcard) was first launched in 2008. The name Genesis means beginning or origin, which is fitting as the car was Hyundai’s first entry into the luxury market. The car was originally designed to challenge the BMW 5-Series and other prestigious nameplates.

Fat Tire
While cleaning out my desk I came across a postcard/coaster from my friend Julie. She sent this from her first time out in her new town, Cedar Rapids… almost a year ago. A blast from the past indeed!

SOME SMART STUFF
New Belgium Brewing Company, founded in 1991 in Fort Collins, Colorado, is the countries seventh-largest brewery. The company’s most famous beer is an amber ale named Fat Tire. Here is something that my fellow artist should really appreciate, all New Belgium beer labels have been designed by Anne Fitch. She’s a water-colorist! In fact the president of the company attributes the success of their beer in part to unique artwork featured on the bottles. I’ll have a drink to that!

In a strange turn of events my coworker gave me a similar postcard a few days after I rediscovered this card from Julie. Here it is for your viewing pleasure:

Nick's Powersports Postcard
In honor of this ski-dootastic postcard that I designed for my coworker, I have decided to share some lovely and interesting facts about snowmobiles.

SEAN PRESENTS: LOVELY AND INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT SNOWMOBILES

The modern snowmobile is the result of several trials and advancements in transportation across snowy and other wise impenetrable terrains. Some early vehicles included modified bicycles, steam powered sleighs and Model Ts that were modified with tractor tires and skis. However, the first truly recognizable snowmobile in the United States was patented in June of 1916 which featured front skis and rear tracks.

With further refinements and lighter engines the first modern open cockpit style snowmobiles hit the market under the name “Ski-doo”. In the 1970s there were over 100 manufactures that sold nearly two million snowmobiles from 1970 to 1973. Most of these companies went out of business due to the oil crisis of 1973 or were bought up by larger outfits.

Beer Me
The strangest cards I have ever seen come from overseas. Its not always that they are weird, it also has something to do with how one acquires them. For example Karmen found this Budweiser card in a bar in Taipei, which seems pretty strange to me.

Fairness
Just when you think things can’t get any stranger… they do. Here is another postcard from Karmen’s trip to Singapore. I think everyone needs to enjoy the truly awesome awesomeness that is this card, here is the text from the card for your eye balls to feast on:

“I am fair whenever justice is required. No matter who you are and where you come from. I will protect you. I am a Police Officer in the Singapore Police Force. I am extraordinary. Join me in the fight against crime and bring evil to justice.”

About the only way this could be anymore is if Karmen were the police officer!
