Here’s a card that Karmen picked up in Taiwan. It must be some sort of advertisement postcard… as the entire back side is filled with Chinese text.

101
I received this postcard thanks to Postcrossing, which is essentially a glorious postcard swap website. Where you send a postcard then you recieve a postcard. I’ve sent 5 postcards so far, a few within the United States, and then 1 to each Germany, Russia, and Finland. I’ve received cards from China, Taiwan, Belarus, Japan, and Hong Kong. Join the fun by clicking right here.

This postcard depicts Taipei 101, the second tallest building in the world. Evangeline informed me that much like Time Square in New York folks gather around the building to count down to the new year. This is my second Taipei 101 specific postcard. My die hard readers will remember postcard #0002, my second postcard, all about Damper Baby, the tower’s mascot.

Take a gander at the Postcrossing fact sheet. Which shows the date Evangeline requested an address to send a postcard and not the date the card was sent. Also, I’m not sure what city this card came from so I used their distance!

While in Pingtung, an area in southern Taiwan, Karmen came across this postcard in a train station. Although she was in a hurry and the train was about to depart, she still managed to obtain this glorious card.

Translation: “Serve the cat”

I must apologize for the facts section. The postcard was never postmarked, so I have no idea when it was sent. Also, I have become quite lethargic about my blogging, and I never wrote down when I received it. If that weren’t enough fact-slacking, the online distance tool I use has not heard of Pingtung. Oopsy daisies.

Karmailo
Ladies and gentlemen I present the last postcard sent to me from Taipei City. Karmen picked this card up at the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, which was built to commemorate President Chiang Kai-shek. Since this postcard features Karmen’s beautiful mug I thought I would share some lovely facts I have come to know about Ms. Mallow.

Sean Presents: Some Lovely Facts About Ms. Mallow

Karmen picked up this Chinese New Year themed postcard from a breakfast shop. She has informed me that it is now the year of the dragon and that she hopes to have another year full of adventure! That makes you and me both Kar Kar!

The Paper Museum
Here is a card straight from a paper museum located in Taipei, the museum shows art made from paper cutting, the history of paper, and the process in which paper is made. Karmen reports that there is a DIY workshop on the roof where you can make your own paper, in fact she made the paper that the postcard is made on. Just kidding, I made that last bit up.

Top Secret
I received this postcard which is a Yuan imperial portrait. On the back side Karmen wrote a message that she then covered in a scratch off sticker… sadly I got way to excited about the fun of a scratch off and ruined the secret message. I fail!

Stereo Viewer-a-gram
I wish I could show you just how cool this card really is, but I can’t so you are just going to have to take my work for it. This card features artwork by Van Gogh, more specifically it is Cafe Terrace at Midnight. The stereo viewer allows me (the viewer) to feel as if I am partaking in some sort of impressionistic time warp… and it is rather neat. Before viewing this card you should know that this is, “not suitable for children under 3 years due to small parts.”

Yingee Ceramics Museum

Yingee Ceramics MuseumMs. Mallow reports from the Taipei Country Yingee Ceramics Museum in Taipei. She says that the only things to do in the area are go to this museum and walk up and down “Old Street” eating things on the way. Sounds positively yummy!

Carbon Dioxide Monster
This is a card that Karmen sent me a while back… I feel like such a bad blogger for losing it! Anyways, she found this odd postcard at the 2011 Young Designers Expo in Taiwan. It’s very cool and I wish I could have gone to this expo!
